Smart Cards

Smart cards – also referred to as chip cards – are plastic cards that contain memory chips or even microprocessors depending on the design. Everyday life can no longer be imagined without these cards that are in the majority of the cases in cheque card size. Open the private purse alone one will find numerous representatives: cash cards, credit cards, health insurance cards, access authorisation, membership cards and many others. The range of applications goes much further, yet, if one thinks e. g. of electronically readable identification cards or passports, telephone cards, or cards for satellite reception.

For all these products, Isola provides base material in different designs: unclad, one-sided or two-sided copper clad and all of this in various thicknesses starting from 80 µm carrier thicknesses. As a specialty, this material is not provided as panels but in rolls in all customised widths from 30 mm and in typical length from 200 m.
