History of Isola AG

 
1912     -     Company established as Continentale Isola Werke AG, Düren
         
1954   -   Rütgerswerke AG becomes part owner of company
         
1956   -   First production of copper-clad, phenolic paper laminate base materials
         
1963   -   Copper-clad epoxy glass fabric laminates added to product line
         
1984   -   Established first subsidiary: Isola France, Bonneuil sur Marne
         
1985   -   Rütgerswerke AG purchases 100% of Isola Werke AG
    -   Opened Isola Werke UK, Cumbernauld
         
1987   -   Acquired ADI in Fremont, CA, renamed the business Isola USA
         
1990   -   Acquisition of Stesalit AG, Switzerland
    -   Acquisition of 75% of the shares of the MAS-Group of Italy
         
1992   -   High-performance materials added to existing product line
         
1993   -   Acquisition of the remaining 25% of the shares of the MAS-Group by Isola and integration into the Isola-Group
         
1996   -   Ridgeway, SC facility open and operational
    -   Inauguration of a new technology center in Düren, Germany
         
1997   -   Additional capacity added in South Carolina plant
         
1999   -   Production starts in the Philippines at SUMISOLA, Isola’s joint venture with Sumitomo Bakelite of Japan
    -   Cumbernauld plant production capacity doubled
    -   Acquisition of AlliedSignal’s laminate business and merger with Isola USA to form Isola’s Americas business unit, Isola Laminate Systems Corp.
         
2000   -   Purchase of all shares of SUMISOLA. Business unit re-named Isola Asia Pacific (Philippines) Inc
         
2004   -   RÜTGERS AG sells Isola AG to a consortium of Texas Pacific Group and Redfern Partners, USA
         
2005   -   Acquisition of Gividi SpA, Italy and change of name to Isola Fabrics
